DUTIES: Solely responsible for the management and supervision of the center-based activities and day-to-day operations. Management functions must support the overall goal of school readiness for children enrolled in Head Start Academies as outlined in the Head Start Act and HHS Roadmap to Excellence. Maintain compliance with Head Start Program Performance Standards and applicable child care standards. Work with administrator and Human Resources Department to recruit, hire and train all center staff. Serve as liaison between center staff and Service Area Managers. Monitor, track and report staff attendance for payroll purposes. Monitor activities of staff to ensure compliance with Head Start Performance Standards.
-Work with Administrator and Human Resources Department to recruit, hire and train all center staff. Manage performance of all center staff including work performance, written annual evaluations, disciplinary procedures and the developing performance improvement plans. Schedule staff, monitor attendance and payroll.
-Implement, monitor and evaluate curricula with assistance from Education Service Area
Manager and Education Specialist. Attend meetings and training sessions. Serve as resource for classroom teachers, observe classroom activities, schedule and monitor training. Monitor center for compliance with health, safety, fire and occupancy regulations.
-Accurately complete daily, weekly and monthly reports as required. Attend Principal meetings as scheduled (twice monthly), serve on committees as assigned. Work with Family Community Service-Area Manager to perform all parent involvement and community outreach activities including participation in parent committee meetings, enrollment processes, recruitment activities, preparation of Community Assessment, planning of parent programs and all other parent and community related functions.
The Principal is responsible for the supervision of Head Start-EHS teaching, nutrition, maintenance, health, mental health staff and volunteers in the center. Principal works with collaborative partners and with school districts.
-Bachelors degree with a major in Early Childhood Education or Child Development. Minimum of three years teaching, supervisory and administrative experience in a child development center or Head Start with increasing levels of job responsibility OR
-Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development. Minimum of five years teaching, supervisory and administrative experience in a child development center or Head Start with increasing levels of job responsibility.
All persons hired in CAO Head Start programs must receive acceptable SCR clearance and be free of criminal convictions of crimes against children -misdemeanor and felony. Finger printing required.
